Introduction

Greg's Outdoor Page is proud to present Greg's Outdoor Survival Game. The on-line game that let’s you pit your survival skills against other players from around the world.  And you don’t have to leave the comfort of your living room.

About this document

This document is broken down into 4 sections.  This, the introduction, is the first.  The second section is the team play layout.  The third describes how the mechanics of the game are laid out.  The fourth and final section describes the rules and regulations of the game.

Glossary of Terms

It's important that everybody is speaking the same language.  With that in mind, the following glossary of terms is provided.

Camp

Every player will be assigned a 'camp'.  This camp is where you and and your fellow campers will 'live' and is to represent your wilderness home.

Handle

This is the name that other players will see and call you by.  Each player sets this up during the signup process

Moderator

Every camp has a 'moderator'.  This is somebody who is not there to play the game, but will regulate it and watch for transgressions.

Game Master

This is the title given to the person in charge of the game.  All decisions that effect the entire game will be made by this individual.

Elimination

The game is based on elimination.  That means that the last one left standing is the winner.

Trial

Players will be presented "Tribulations".  The better they score, the better their chance of not being eliminated.

Concept of the Game

The idea is that the players are 'stranded' in a remote area of Canada.  You must learn to not only get along with each other, but you must also demonstrate your abilities to survive in this environment.  To facilitate this, each 'camp' will be given a message forum where only those members of that camp can post messages.  In this way, the individual players will get to know each other and learn about each other's weaknesses and strengths.  To demonstrate your survival skills, the players will regularly be presented with tribulations or trials.  This could range from anything from a maze to follow to a long series of questions.  The players will not know the details of which until the time of the trial. There will be a scoring mechanism.  The camp with the worst score will be required to remove a member from their camp in a secret ballet. At some point in the future, the camps will amalgamate and the whole process will start over.  At some point, there will be only one camp left.  At this point, the best score will receive an exemption from elimination.  When there are only two players left, the entire final camp will then vote as to who will the prize.
